My first tattoo, done three days before I turned 18. My mom signed because she said she knew I was going to get it on my birthday regardless and wanted to be there to support me and be a part of the experience. I’ve gone through a lot in my life: being separated from a parent and severe depression and, most recently, being in recovery for an eating disorder which had totally messed up my life. I got this tattoo to remind me that I have used my strength and courage to not let the tough times get to me as a kid and will continue to do so going into adulthood.
